The League of Liberal Women Voters, a self-described non-partisan group, held a forum recently with the four candidates for Georgia State School Superintendent.  As expected, the candidates are not up to speed on much of anything.  No matter who wins, don't expect to see any major changes on how Georgia outspends and under-performs when compared to neighboring states. But one question at the forum should throw up a red flag for those of us in support of local control and breaking up the monster districts like the failed DeKalb School System.Head over to DeKalb School Watch (but don't go there daily and read all the great stuff because you will either: 1. Move out of DeKalb or 2. Ge

We have a slight change to the parade route for 2014, affecting the viewing location for thousands of west Dunwoody residents.  Normally we see people putting out chairs on July 3rd evening for the best spots on Dunwoody Parkway.  Due to the construction/installation of a bike lane and a sidewalk this road is not suitable for a parade this year.  Fear not, the show must go on.  Instead of turning onto Dunwoody Parkway the parade will travel an additional 100 feet on Mt Vernon, then turn into the Dunwoody Village parking lot.  The huge potato on a truck will not turn into the parking lot due to a threat from a Marlow's Tavern chef to convert it into French fries.Para

Dunwoody showed up big time again at the summer league dive championships.  Upstart Mill Glen captured the B Championship trophy and will move up a division next year.  Wynterhall, with its dive membership/recruiting advantage (a kid can join dive team without the requirement of a family membership at the pool), finished 2nd in their division for the upmteenth straight year. Congrats to both teams.Redfield and Mill Glen are in negotiations to combine dive teams as Redfield has experienced divers in the older age groups while while Mill Glen rules the younger age divisions. Dunwoody had several podium finishes at the championships at Georgia Tech.    6u boys 1st - Max Kr

The 2014 swim season jumped off the blocks last night for most area pools.  A couple of meets still to come Thursday.Wynterhall 410  Zaban 383It was a packed house at the JCC on Tuesday evening.  It was great timing to have the first day of summer camps dismiss the same time the swimmers were showing up.  Good times in car pool for all!  The traffic rush did not affect the rookie Wynterhall swimmers as they win as we expected, their first of two or three probable wins this season.  Wynterhall meets Redfield next week in what is always a nice gathering of friends.  Look for Wynterhall to upset the RedDevils next week. Zaban starts off the season 0-1 and loo

from Karen Handel....Today, I am formally endorsing Jack Kingston, the conservative choice for U.S. Senate.I have had the unique opportunity over the last year to get to know all of the candidates very well, under the difficult circumstances and significant pressures of a statewide race. What I've seen in Jack is a man of integrity who is devoted to his family. A man who is fiercely dedicated to the conservative principles that are the foundation of the Republican Party. A man who has represented the people of the 1st Congressional District honorably and effectively for more than 20 years. When you are trying to decide who to support in the runoff, think about this: when Election Day came las
