Community Radar sponsored a water station at the Dresden East Civic Association (DECA)
National Night
Out parade of August 5, 2008. It was a pleasure helping parade attendees and participants (and even the poochies!) stay hydrated in the extreme heat.
Some of the neighborhood children pitched in to help hand out cool bottles of drinking
water to the appreciative crowd and to the DKPD controling traffic. The officers thanked the children by offering them "Junior Officer" badges and stickers. One young boy (see Casa Dresden-provided photo, right) sincerely and proudly proclaimed, "I helped my community!"

The parade was a real thrill for the children with its Chamblee High drum corps, Cross Keys High flag corps, clowns, Salvation Army Band, Mariachi Band, fire truck and more! Grand Marshall Chief Bolton of DKPD (see Casa Dresden-provided photo, left) topped a vintage Corvette with Comm. Jeff Rader (see Casa Dresden-provided photo, below) following and waving at the crowd from a shiny, new Corvette.
There were jugglers, balloon artists, and all sorts of great people watching opportunities. Great credit is due to Melissa Slaughter and her team of volunteers and sponsors who made this a great civic event!

We at Community Radar believe that good information, like clean water, should be readily available to citizens. If you are hosting an outdoor community event, let us know and we'll be there to support you with a water station. Also, we always provide you with a great civic and community news sharing site - now that's refreshing!
